Crontent Filter

This provides a very flexible way of applying time controls to specific pieces of content. It uses input filters to create tags with date/time information and these are then interpreted by Cron to hide or show the specific content. What this means is that you can in principle have a single node where one version of a section of text is shown until a certain date and then a modified version is shown thereafter.

There would be other ways of controlling content display such as Scheduler module or Rules but the capacity to have multiple time-based rules within an single node seems interesting. At a guess the main problem with this in practice is likely to be around caching and then there’s also the issue of needing to have cron running with sufficient regularity. The project page acknowledges that and suggests it may try other techniques such as hooks to trigger the filtering.
